Oculus isn't supporting roomscale, but SteamVR supports Oculus and early info (so take with a grain of salt) is that with Touch it handles a lot of stuff fine. I doubt many of you are in my area, but does anyone know of anywhere in Southern Alberta, Canada where people might be showcasing / demonstrating the two head sets? I REALLY wanted to head to Prime this year, but it just wasn't in the cards financially.

#The climb vr spectator screen software#
Kyanilis, I know Occulus is capable of roomscale, but they are not pushing for the development of it, so I'm wary with investing in the hardware if the software isn't planning on focusing on (what I consider to be) an integral part of a VR experience. There's (fortunately?) not just an easy answer as which one is "better."īremen and Kyanilis, awesome info, I really appreciate it.

For instance, personally I find the Rift to be more comfortable while others feel the Vive is better in that regard. Not to make your choice any more difficult but if you get a chance I'd try both to figure out which one feels better to you. Once Touch comes out anything that works on the Vive should work on the Rift as well. Depending on your time frame, Touch is going to be out in a couple months too which basically makes the devices equivalent. The only difference is, right now, the Vive has motion controllers. And if I have the spare room for room-scale, general consensus is definitely Vive? It'll be about 4mx4m usable space, so I'm putting a lot of value on the room-scale experiences being developed for the Vive.īoth are capable of room-scale.
